Developmental Pediatrician/Educational Vs. Medical

Just my experience with getting “medical diagnosis” in the area and my two cents . . . What you need to know is that an educational vs. medical diagnosis is a huge jump, no matter what anyone says. It varies across the country.

1. Dr. Wendy Ross - saw a posting a couple of months on an Autism board I part of and it was mentioned about Albert Einstein. So called her office the first time and received a call later on and the wait is from 1 ½ - 2 years.

2. CHOP Autism Center - I think the experience has been either great or really bad for parents. I have completely lost all hope in their autism department. I currently go there for the other specialists (cardiology and orthopedics). Also, I did call CHOP for there Autism center, my son was dx at 3 1/2 years old  PDD(Autism) by Dr Kruger at the local IU called the Catch Team. They will not take any patients over 3 1/2 years old, plus they were indicating a one year wait, if you fell into the age limit.

3. Karen E. Senft, M.D. with Good Sheperd Rehabilitation in Allentown - a friend recommended her and we are to be seen as soon as November.

4. SPARC partnered with the West Chester University Dr Jennifer Dawson - Be prepared to pay out of pocket (close to $2000-$3000) other than that their office staff is wonderful about getting back to you and answering any questions.
